Grand Peruvian Adventure

Discover Peruvian culture and geographical wonder on this multifaceted Platinum DreamTrip through Machu Picchu and more.

About Your Trip

Kick off this Platinum DreamTrip for ages 12 years and older at the Awana Cancha farm to gain insights into exotic Alpacas, Llamas and Vicunas, as well as the traditional weaving of handmade products. As you explore the town of Pisac, take in majestic views at the scenic lookout of Taray, before delving into what is known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After a delightful traditional lunch at the Restaurant Dona Clorinda, explore the ruins of Saqsayhuaman, a stunning display of Incan architectural prowess. Then, venture on to the beautiful Cathedral of Cusco, with lovely touches of Baroque, Gothic and Renaissance Mannerist styles.

The next day take a tour of the Main Temple of the Sun and the Moray Ruins, visually stunning designs that appear as a Roman amphitheater. After a traditional lunch in the town of Urubamba at Wayra, visit the Salt Mines of Maras, where an underground spring carries along silts and salt while being replenished from the waters from the lofty mountain range – creating fascinating ponds.

A new day welcomes a visit to the archaeological complex of Ollantaytambo, located at the northern end of the Sacred Valley and known for being one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle.

During the following 2 days you will experience the magic and grandeur of Machu Picchu, with lots of time to wander the scenic grounds and contemplate the serenity of the site; including, on your final day, a choice of touring either the Waynapicchu Mountain or the Machu Picchu Mountain. The Waynapicchu Mountain is considered the highest peaked mountain of Machu Picchu, where one can gaze down at the gorgeous Macchu Picchu main square and the tempting Urubamba canyon all around.

What we love:

• Pisac is known for its strong culture, traditional market and impressive Inca ruins.
• Machu Picchu is considered one of the great wonders in the world, symbolizing the technical prowess of the Inca Empire at its apex.
• The exciting opportunity to scale either Waynapicchu Mountain, or the Machu Picchu Mountain, will provide a sense of major accomplishment and memorable views.

Destination

Situated within the Peruvian Andes, Cusco was the historic capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th-16th centuries. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the city contains an abundance of Spanish architecture from the days of early colonialization. Its charms are such that approximately 2 million people visit the city each year.

Known as a convenient starting point for visiting the ruins of Machu Picchu, the Incans considered Cusco to be the “Belly Button of the World” due to its central location in the empire. Considered by many to be the most beautiful village in Latin America, its mountain peaks, orchid abundant cloud forests and intriguing lowlands are certain to enchant even the most seasoned traveler.
